Game Rules
1. Content warnings are everyone's friend. This game deals with some pretty intense subject matter on a regular basis, but everybody has different things they're into or would prefer not to read, for whatever reason. If you are threading anything that falls under the header of potentially questionable, warn for it outside the cut tag. Cut tags are also our friends and all graphic content must be under one. We trust your judgment to know what needs a warning - and when in doubt, use a cut and attach one of the [warning] tags.
2. IC = IC and OOC = OOC. Sometimes, characters are complete dicks. Sometimes, they're immature and spiteful and might even deliberately try to get each other killed. The fact that they do this does not mean that their player wants to make anyone else uncomfortable; they're just trying to keep them true to the canon and play them realistically, given the stressful nature of the setting and the kind of proximity it forces characters into. Character views and actions should not be taken to represent the views of their players. Just as you wouldn't assume someone playing a serial killer would actually enjoy killing people in real life, you shouldn't assume that another player doesn't like you just because their character makes trouble for yours, or that they share any offensive opinions their characters might hold.
3. Communication is also your friend.
At Montauk-1 Allende-18, we're all about handling problems quietly and internally, with the minimum amount of drama possible. If you have concerns about someone's characterization, take it to their HMD first and foremost; if you have concerns about their behavior OOC that are not too serious, consider politely bringing it up to them. However, if you're worried about doing either of these, or if the problem is something you shouldn't handle on your own, feel free to come to the mods, and we'll figure out how best to handle it. Above all else, our goal is to make this a fun and stress-free place to enjoy some mind-bending, pants-wetting terror.
4. No godmoding or infomodding. Godmoding covers both overpowering your character (always winning/coming out on top/suddenly having powers never before mentioned) and controlling another player's character. Infomodding means having your character act according to information that is only available to you OOC.
5. You must be seventeen or older to join this game. Due to the subject matter and premise of the game, we feel an age limit is justified. There is no minimum age for your characters - though, keep in mind, all characters are equally likely to have horrible things happen to them, regardless of age.
6. Don't be a dick. Seriously. Respect your fellow players, and your mods, and remember that social interactions aren't a zero-sum game: the more you're kind and courteous to others and help make things fun for them, the more you'll receive the same in return.
